Lismore Bridal
posted by: Dominic Finlay-Jones 29th July 2009Alice and I were asked to visit this shop, talk to the owner, discovery his history and find a dress that piqued our interest.
As if a theatre converted into a dress shop wouldn't be enough to satisfy an architect and a textile artist - then we found that dress.
The building had a brief former life as a nightclub called Sgt.Peppers - complete with metallic silver bubble tiles on the ceiling.
The owner couldn't stand them, but couldn't throw them away.
So he made a dress out of them. A glittering giant carp.
This brief, rare and absurd experience allowed alice and I to have some time to talk about common ground without cameras, microphones or an audience - which was nice.
