the art of walking

When stuck on an idea, it’s a good practice to go for a walk
The motion of walking (or even riding a bike) is a great way to unlock thoughts and combat the stuckness
So scheduled for the end of the week was an exercise in “walking meditation”
While in the bus on the way, we chose a card from the Darma deck for some divine Buddhist inspiration
Glorious Minyon Falls in Nightcap National Park was the backdrop for this 2 hour undertaking
There were some unplanned considerations involved on the day that meant the exercise didn’t go ahead as originally planned (lack of silence etc) but basically the proof was in the walking and in the witness to landscape – helping us be magicians!
Upon return we stopped at Nightcap Café and engaged in a talking circle about the reaction to the cards we chose and what it means to us, along with some other considerations
Another awesome alternative to the lab classroom-style lab environment -> phew!
I am left wishing I could do that walk everyday, but Nightcliff Beach is a good alternative : )
What Else?
the books ‘The Artists Way’ or ‘The Sound of Paper’ are another good reference for outlining the importance of walking in the Art-Making Process
